The National Championships were a fitting climax to another successful season. Kenny Beggs won the title for the 3rd time. Other winners were Davy Clegg (Vet); Peter Morrison (U15); Joe McRoberts (Plate); Belfast Barbarians 'A' (Team)

Dublin GP: Arca (Italy) 0 Beggs (NI) 1
Seven Northern Ireland players travelled to Dublin, for 2 International events held in the Q-Bar. Davy, Stuart & Feargal were knocked out of their groups in the Grand Prix; Donal & Barry made the last 32 & Kenny the last 16. Davy & Stuart could not stay for the International Open on Day 2, in which Kenny & Barry reached the knockout phase. Barry lost in the Barrage, while Kenny progressed to the Q/F. Donal, Eoin & Feargal went out at the group stage, although Donal had a good run in the plate, finishing runner-up.

UK & Ireland Internationals 12th/13th Jun 04

Northern Ireland Team
England became official team Champions of the UK & Ireland at the National Football Museum in Preston.

Northern Ireland were pipped into 2nd place by Republic of Ireland. Individual Champion was England's Shorab Jadunandan.

Northern Ireland players, Stuart McIlroy, Joe McRoberts & Donal Convery were eliminated from their groups, Barry Spence qualified before losing 5-3 to John Moore in the barrage round & Kenny Beggs reached the quarter-finals, losing 2-1 to Shorab.

International: Republic of Ireland v Northern Ireland 5th Jun 04
Northern Ireland had a successful trip to Dublin, winning the friendly International match 12-3. Many thanks to the Q-Bar for providing an excellent venue and great hospitality.

Belfast Barbarians Open Night 21st Apr 04
The 2nd Barbarians Open of the season was a tight contest, played to the Swiss System. Kenny Beggs won on goal difference ahead of Barry Spence, with Davy Clegg finishing a close 3rd, only a point behind the top two. Good to see Solomon Choudhery & Fergal Adams making their tournament debut. Results

FISTF Grand Prix of Wales in Flint 20th/21st Mar 04
An all-English final saw Darren Clarke beat Chris Short 1-0 with a golden-goal. Northern Ireland's Kenny Beggs & Eoin Adams lost to Chris Thomas & Shorab in the last 16. Eoin also played in the team event for an unofficial 'All-Stars' team consisting of Colin Lewis (Wales), Robert Ramsay (Scotland) & Matt Lampitt (England). Full Results

Stuart McIlroy is back! 25th Feb 04

The former Northern Ireland Champion is due to make a comeback at the forthcoming Dunmurry Open & intends joining the North Down League.

Phil Redman beat Darren Clarke 3-1 in GP Final. Belgium's David Wouters scored in extra-time to beat Kenny Beggs 3-2 in Last 16. Irish Premier League reached team semi-final, losing to Hot Club d'Ecosse, who were beaten by English Premier League in Final. Results.

Davy Clegg wins North Down League 19th Jan 04
Davy clinched the title in his final match, ahead of Neil Hanna, who had led for most of the season.

FISTF Open of England in London 17th/18th Jan 04
A very competitive tournament, won by Carlos Flores of Spain. He overcame World Champion, Nastasi, in semi, before beating Holland's Verhagen in final. Northern Ireland's hopes ended at group stage, with Kenny Beggs losing 0-2 against Vincent Prats (Spain) and drawing 0-0 with England's David Russell. English Premier League won team event. Irish Premier League did not qualify from their group.

England's Shorab Jadunanden beat Rep of Ireland's Gary Moore 4-1 in the IO Final, following an exciting 4-3 victory over Northern Ireland's Kenny Beggs in the semi-final. Barry Spence was the other beaten semi-finalist, going down 1-3 to Gary Moore. Other Northern Ireland players, Joe McRoberts, Chris McRoberts & Eoin Adams were eliminated at group stage.

Dumfries International Tournament 22nd/23rd Nov 03

Results

Four Northern Ireland players travelled to Dumfries.

Eoin Adams qualified from his group with a 1-0 victory over Susan Wright and a 1-2 defeat to eventual tournament winner, Dutchman Eric Verhagen. He was eliminated by Shorab of England in the last 16.

Kenny Beggs also progressed to the last 16, winning 6-1 against Belgian, Jos Cuelemans & 1-0 against Scotland's Adam Beattie, before losing 2-3 in extra-time to England's Peter Thomas.

Davy Clegg was in a tough group of four. He drew 2-2 with Max Wright but lost to Peter Thomas & Gary Moore.

Barry Spence drew with Alan Manson (Scot) but lost to Phil Redman (Eng) in his group and went out on goal-difference. He had consolation by winning the Plate, however, coming from two down to beat Davy Clegg 3-2 in S/F & beating Scotland's Susan Wright 2-0 in the final.

Subbuteo Charity Premiership 5th/6th Oct 03
This fundraiser for Leukaemia proved to be a huge success. A whole season's English Premiership and FA Cup were played over the weekend. Kenny Beggs and his Team-mate represented Liverpool and won the FA Cup. Thanks to all Northern Ireland players who contributed sponsorship money.
