John Moore - IPL
Cup Winner |
John Moore Wins Cup The season was rounded off
with a Cup Competition consisting of 3 groups.
The group winners plus best runner-up qualified
for semi-finals, which produced the match of the
day between John Moore and Joe McRoberts. John
was 4-1 up at the interval but Joe hit back in
the 2nd half and was unlucky to lose 5-4. In the
other semi, Davy Clegg beat league champion,
Kenny Beggs 2-1. John Moore won the final on
shots after the match had ended 1-1. Results

Setback For Gary As John
Goes 2nd
1st Nov 2005
John Moore beat
Gary 2-1 & Nicky (Darren Moore's replacement) 3-0 to
gain 6 points and move into 2nd place. Gary beat Nicky
4-0 but his defeat to John is a big setback in the title
race, since he needs to keep winning his matches in hand
and hope that Kenny slips up. Fixtures & Table

Nine players
were available for the latest League meeting in Dunmurry
Kenny Beggs opened up a 15-point gap at the top. Gary
Moore, with 5 matches in hand, is the only player who can
realistically catch him. Results & Photos
IPL Run EPL Close in Milton Keynes 26th/27th Feb
2005
IPL beat London
4-0 & lost to EPL, finishing 2nd in their group,
before going out in the semi-final to tournament winners,
Murciana of Spain. The Irish lads were only 30 seconds
away from winning their group, which would have set up an
unexpected semi-final clash with Cardiff, but Dave
Pawsey's last gasp equaliser against Kenny Beggs gave EPL
a narrow 2-1 victory, ensuring that the English avoided
the strong Murciana team until the final. Tournament Website | IPL Team Results | Full Results

Outstanding League Matches Jan 2005
Players are urged to catch-up on some
outstanding league fixtures before the next meeting
(which will be in Feb or March). Ideally, the half-way
point should have already been reached. Hopefully Belfast
Barbarians, North Down & Nomadic
Celts can fit in these matches or arrange extra sessions.

Goes 8 Points Clear 13th Nov 2004
The 2nd
league meeting took place in the White Water Cafe Bar, Newbridge. Kenny Beggs opened up an 8-point
lead after winning all six of his matches & beating
closest rival, Gary Moore, 5-1. Gary also lost to John
Moore, who had a good day, winning four out of five
matches. Davy Clegg remains in 3rd place, despite having
some bad results. Shock of the day was Andy Fitzpatrick's
2-1 win over Barry Spence. Results & Photos

Disappointment For IPL in
Cardiff 16th Oct 2004
IPL failed to get
through their group in the Cardiff Team Grand Prix. They beat East Midlands Alliance
& lost to Hennuyer before the clash with Hot Club
d'Ecosse, a match which IPL only needed to draw to make
the Quarter-Finals. Hot Club, however, clinched 2nd spot
with a 2-1 win to progress along with group winners,
Hennuyer.
The Individual Grand Prix unfortunately paired Kenny Beggs
& Gary Moore in the same group, along with Scotland's
Mike Burns, who beat Gary & drew with Kenny, so
leaving the IPL team-mates to battle it out for 2nd
place. Kenny won narrowly, 2-1, but went out in the next
round to Italian, De Francesco. Darren Territ qualified
from his group before losing to Malta's Joseph Mifsud.
Andy Fitzpatrick lost to Mifsud & Varney. Eoin Adams
lost to World Number 1, Eric Verhagen. He still had a
chance to qualify in his other group match but Trevor
Arthur beat him 2-1.
IPL Win Inter-Club Friendly in
Knutsford 3rd Oct 2004
The IPL beat East
Midlands Alliance 3-2 during the recent Charity event for
Leukaemia. John Moore, Kenny Beggs & Andy Murray took
on Trevor Arthur, Simon Morris & Simon Bryan. Andy
(deputising for Eoin Adams) lost both his matches but,
fortunately, this did not affect the outcome as John
& Kenny's results were enough to secure victory for
the IPL. Results & Photos

League Season Gets Underway 31st July 2004
The 2004/05 season started in Dunmurry. Early leaders are
Kenny Beggs (NI) & Gary Moore (ROI), with Davy Clegg
(NI) hot on their tails in 3rd. Gary looked set to finish
the day in top spot after winning his first 5 matches
& Kenny having drawn his first match with Barry
Spence. In the last session, however, Eoin Adams produced
a shock draw with Gary. This enabled Kenny to edge ahead
on goal-difference after recovering from his first match
to win his next 5, although there is still a long way to
go, probably with a few more twists & turns to come.
Of the other contenders, Territt, McRoberts & Spence
all performed steadily but John Moore got off to a slow
start, only winning 2 matches out of 5. Results
